Adidas has signed PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Xander Schauffele and three-time European Tour winner Tyrrell Hatton, and convinced Sergio to sign a new extended contract.
“It’s extremely rewarding to know that the best golfers in the world are impressed enough with our products to want to have a professional relationship with us,” said Jeff Lienhart, president, adidas Golf. “
All three have signed apparel and footwear deals, joining Justin Rose, John Rahm and world number 1 Dustin Johnson.
Tyrrell posted this to his Instagram account yesterday.
Sergio, who recently signed a club deal with Callaway after being with TaylorMade for the best part of his career, was rumoured to be about to end his 20-year relationship with adidas but signed on the dotted line, saying: “The adidas brand is as much a part of my life off the golf course as it is on. I’m just as excited today to extend our relationship as I was when I first signed with adidas when I turned pro in 1999.”
Xander Schaufele is equally delights: “Growing up in a German family, and especially one dedicated to sports, adidas has always been a part of my life. I’ve also been wearing the 3-Stripes since I turned pro in 2015 and I’m excited for that partnership to continue for years to come.”
Tyrrell Hatton, currently world number 16, will play in select PGA Tour events this season, and wear the adidas gear for the first time at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship later in January.
