Who needs sand to practice from a bunker?
You don't, if you've got a Pocket Bunker
Words: Daniel Owen
I'm not a big believer in training aids. At least not self diagnosed ones, they can work when a pro has told you to practice with them. The Pocket Bunker is a little different though. Rather than trying to get you into positions that you probably can't manage, the pocket bunker gives you a chance to practice your bunker shots wherever you are.
The portable, pocket-sized practice aid closely resembles normal golf ball, except it has legs that act as sand simulators. Played from just about any surface, it reacts with the resistance and feel of bunker sand, meaning you can practice your bunker shots wherever you are.
Resistance generated between the club and the playing surface provides a realistic feel: just imagine you’re hitting the legs out from under the ball. Hit it fat and it stays behind, hit it thin and it flies over. Shank it, and it will go sideways. Hit a good Pocket Bunker shot and it reacts like a good bunker shot.
Tough, durable and made from tear-resistant material, the Pocket Bunker is designed to last a lifetime. Invented by Conrad van Niekerk, a mechanical engineer and keen golfer from South Africa, the Pocket Bunker has been more than ten years in the making and been tirelessly tested by professional golfers worldwide.
Available initially through crowd funding site indigogo the pocket bunker will be made available on Amazon and Etsy after the initial release.
