Stewart Golf launch X–Treme

All–terrain trolley

Stewart Golf has released details of its new X–Treme; the world's first truly all-terrain golf trolley.

The company developed the X–Treme, which features Caterpillar tracks in place of standard or winter wheels, after being snowed under by requests from golfers in regions such as Alaska, Canada and Northern Scandinavia where winter golf is a growing sport.

Featuring military spec tracks plus specialised, more powerful motors, the X–Treme can power through snow or mud up to 1m in depth.

The tracks use technology developed by the US Military for use in Joint Ordnance Kinetic Energy systems and have been specifically adapted for the X–Treme providing a completely indestructible product.

Throughout the winter, Stewart Golf staff have been testing in multiple locations to trial as many challenging conditions as possible. In sub–zero temperatures, performance was much more impressive than expected largely due to the new battery technology employed. The new patented cells use rare 'unobtanium' material which has a power density many times of the standard lithium battery.

The main target audience is those living within extreme climates, however demand is expected from more traditional regions due to its unique and versatile design.

CEO Mark Stewart said: “This is a really exciting development that will help many golfers around the world. It has been a real challenge to create but the end result is really exceptional, particularly the power aspect: the X–Treme actually pulled our car out of a snow drift at one stage during testing."

Canadian distributor Joseph McLuckie added: "With snow a feature of our climate for a lot of the year, the X–Treme will allow Canadian golfers to lengthen their golf season no matter how cold the winter gets. Plus, the tank tracks might keep the moose away…"
