Siren Blazing It Up At LPGA Tour School
Savannah Vilaubi second through round 2
Words: Daniel Owen
Update: Savannah shot a second round 70, and lies tied second at the LPGA Q School. Leader Sarah Schmelzel shot her second consective 67 to get to -10, and holds a three shot lead over Vilaubi.
Original: Since we last checked in on Savannah Vilaubi, she's been blazing a trail across the mini tours of America, adding a win at the Texas Women's Open to her three wins on the Cactus Tour. That win guarantees her a spot at the LPGA's Texas Shootout next season. Before that, though, she's trying to get on the LPGA full time.
A first round 67 on the tough Dinah Shore course puts her one back of the lead, but the rest of the leading players shot their scores at the easier Arnold Palmer course.
Vilaubi didn't make it through the first stage last season: "I just didn't feel ready last year. It is great to have four professional wins under my belt into my second Q School and I just feel so much more prepared."
It's not all hard work for Savannah, though. She looks to have had a lot of fun recently, especially on #WWD2K16...
