USA complete astonishing comeback:

USA trailed 10-6 going into the final day singles which meant Europe just needed 4 points to retain the trophy.

Carlota Ciganda, Melissa Reid and Karine Icher got things going by securing two and a half points from the opening four matches. However, the scoreboard slowly turned into a sea of red meaning that Europe were relying on Anna Nordqvist and Suzann Pettersen to secure the remaining point and a half.

Nordqvist duly obliged, dispatching world Number three Stacey Lewis with some sublime iron play. So then it was all on Pettersen who had been the central villain in the morning's non-conceded putt scandal.

It was perhaps, poetic justice that Pettersen was unable to get the half point Europe needed against Alison Stanford, who won the match and the Solheim Cup for USA on the 17th.

Performance of the day was Cristie Kerr who came from three down after four against Charley Hull to complete an incredible 3&2 win. Kerr went on the rampage, birdieing nine holes out of 11. There's no beating that.
