The Greenbrier Classic could be in serious trouble as storms in West Virginia have battered the course at The Greenbrier Resort. Bubba Watson has a home at the resort and posted this video.
That's not a golf course, it's a river! That's the current state of the 1st, 17th, and 18th holes. The Greenbrier Classic is due to tee off on the 7th of July. It'll be a miracle if the tournament organisers can put on the tournament after these biblical storms. But that is the least of anyones concerns. Children have been swept away, while multiple deaths have been reported due to the extreme nature of the flooding.
Jim Justice owner and CEO of The Greenbrier put out this statement:
Due to the torrential rains that have fallen in Greenbrier County, W.Va., throughout the day, The Greenbrier is experiencing heavy flooding throughout the resort and in surrounding areas. All actions are being taken to keep all guests and Team Members safe, and that is the focus of everybody at this time.
"It's like nothing I've seen. But our focus right now isn't on the property, the golf course or anything else. We're praying for the people and doing everything we can to get them the help they need."
Lets hope the flooding stops soon, and everyone is safe. If the golf course is ready great, if not there is always next year.
