Ecco Golf launch Ecco Cage Pro
Spikeless Shoe with ECCO SPYDR-GRIP
Words: John Dean
ECCO Golf has launched the ECCO CAGE PRO, a spikeless golf shoe that utilises a revolutionary sole design to provide outstanding grip and performance.
As the inventors of the original, ground–breaking hybrid golf shoe, the ECCO CAGE PRO further revolutionises the concept with the introduction of the new performance focused ECCO SPYDR–GRIP outsole.
Highlighted by the unique combination of a redefined direct injected heel cage and an organic structured sole design (patent pending), ECCO CAGE PRO also features a HYDROMAX® treated upper, made from soft, resistant dritton leather.
ECCO CAGE PRO takes stability, comfort and performance to the next level via its unique set of properties which include:
A revolutionary ECCO SPYDR–GRIP outsole that is less aggressive on the greens, provides outstanding grip in all conditions and minimises clogging of dirt in the sole
A unique, one–piece, DIP stability cage that wraps from the heel through the midsole and across the toe box
An anatomical design that aligns and moves in unison with the foot’s essential ligaments and muscles
ECCO Freedom Fit which combines a snug heel setting with a roomier forefoot area that allows toes to move naturally.
“With ECCO CAGE PRO, we’ve been able to take golf shoe design to a new dimension, and in particular, we’re extremely excited about the introduction of our new ECCO SPYDR–GRIP sole and the performance benefits it will provide,” said Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO.
Commenting on the design of the new ECCO SPYDR–GRIP outsole, Ejnar Truelsen, Chief Designer ECCO Concept Lab, added, “Engineered for optimal traction at the foot’s natural pivot points, the ECCO SPYDR–GRIP outsole incorporates an organic design that is easy on the green and minimises clogging of dirt in the sole.”
As is the case with all of the golf shoes in ECCO Golf’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection, ECCO CAGE PRO is crafted at company–owned factories that utilise the DIP to bond the upper and outsole unit, creating a one–piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching. Benefits include flexibility, durability and a lightweight construction.
ECCO Golf shoes are worn in competition around the world by Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Smylie Kaufman, Peter Hanson, Thomas Bjørn, Lydia Ko, Minjee Lee, Caroline Masson, Gerina Piller, among others.
RRP: £160.
