A new report from Sheffield Hallam University’s Sport Industry Research Centre reveals that the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles made a contribution of £106 million to the Scottish economy, which is pretty amazing for an event that’s in theory only three days long.

Anyone who watched The Barclays will realise Jason Day is playing golf on a different planet to everyone else at the moment. He is absolutely munching his TaylorMade R15 460 driver off the tee, while his Spider proto putter was holing putts for fun, with a 29ft, and 33ft putts made in his final round.

It’s good news that John Daly is recovering well from this weekend’s scare. He was taken to hospital with a collapsed lung, but was released the following day, and even turned up at the event to hit a couple of shots. That’s quality. But it really was a quite serious incident.....

Jason Day won the Barclays in an absolute procession, his 19 under par score was six shots better than second placed Henrik Stenson. The Australian golfer has continued his form from the PGA Championship and was in a different league to the rest of the field as he took his fourth title of the season.

So we've switched the golf on, and this is the first thing we see. Brian Harman take a bow son. With odds of 67 million to one, the left hander just nailed this hybrid on the 14th hole at The Barclays for his second hole in one of the round.

Two time major winner, and GolfPunk legend John Daly was last night rushed to hospital after collapsing on the 18th tee at Deerfield Golf Club. Daly who placed at No.4 in our Top 50 GolfPunks, was playing a small tournament in Jackson, Mississippi when he had breathing difficulties on the last hole.

Jordan Spieth missed the cut this week at The Barclays. It happens. We got so used to Tiger Woods being seemingly infallible when he was World Number One that everyone panics that the end of the world is nigh when the official best player in the world misses the cut. A panic that Jordan will never play a good round again. Yet even the best don’t play the weekend every tournament.
