PGA Championship Tee Times
Some corking pairings

It's the PGA Championship, or the US PGA as most of the UK insist on calling it, this week. The fourth major. We've heard it called the RIngo of majors, but that's a bit harsh. Yes we wish it was still a matchplay tournament, but you can't tell anyone that Jason Day's win last year meant less to him than winning an Open would have?
Brought forward this year due to the Olympics, it's a strong field, despite the 20 PGA club pros who qualify every year. The second time Baltusrol's Lower course will have held the PGA Championship, it has also held five US Opens, which should give you some indication of how tough the course can be. Last used in 2005, Phil Mickelson won the PGA Championship shooting four under for the tournament.
With a two tee start, we won't be in for the long days in front of the TV like the Open, but there are some cracking groups to follow.
12:40* - Ernie Els (SA), Rickie Fowler (US), Zach Johnson (US)
Ernie Els has fought back from the yips to play some great golf, and there has been some sublime putting since switching to a SeeMore putter earlier this season. Zach Johnson has near enough always putted the lights out using his SeeMore two, and has played solidly off the back of his Open win last year. Then there is Rickie Fowler. He promised so much last season, and has failed to deliver this year. Is this his time to take the spotlight? We hope so.
13:10* - Brant Snedeker (US), Brooks Koepka (US), Lee Westwood (Eng)
Snedeker has showed form in Canada this week. But it's the other two who interest us. Everyone close to the game thinks Koepka has all the talent to win at the highest level. While Lee Westwood has started to peak for majors. If only he could chip and pitch, he'd be a multiple major winner by now.
13:30* - Phil Mickelson (US), Rory McIlroy (NI), Jason Day (Aus)
Mickelson would have won 140 of the 144 Opens played with his performance at Royal Troon. He just came up against Henrik Stenson having the week of his life. There can be very little scar tissue from that loss, and he won the PGA the last time it was held here, so we think Phil is a great shout. Rory already has two PGA titles, while Day has one. The PGA tends to suit players like these two who hit it miles and carry it through the air. Nobody would be surprised if these two were duelling it out come Sunday night.
17:55 - Anirban Lahiri (Ind), Tony Finau (US), Matthew Fitzpatrick (Eng)
Lahiri's game has showed it can travel. But it's the other two who excite us. Finau flat out bombs it. We think he's got a major in him. Matt Fitzpatrick is progressing much like Rory did when he first turned pro. He's had a couple of big performances in Europe, it's time to stand up and be counted on the other side of the Atlantic.
18:25 - Sergio Garcia (Spa), Jordan Spieth (US), Bubba Watson (US)
Sergio is definitely back to being the best player to not have won a major. We would love him to break through now, when many people think his time has gone. And it would be extra special if he could do it at the PGA, having emerged in the dual with Tiger back in 1999. Jordan needs to have a season defining major win, while who knows which Bubba will turn up this week? And will he arrive on his jet pack?
18:45 - Danny Willett (Eng), Dustin Johnson (US), Henrik Stenson (Swe)
The marquee group, made up of this seasons major winners. Willett hasn't been great since his Masters win, but we don't think hes a one major flash in the pan. Dustin Johnson is owed a PGA. He plays well at US Open courses, so this should suit him. And he bombs it. One to watch. We think this is a couple of weeks too early for Stenson. He won't have got over his Open win yet. Or watch us be totally wrong as swipes away the field again and wins two for two!
