Koople jacket & Clarks Wallabees + lots more
Words: George Stead
Thread Central #1 : The Kooples Straight Leather Jacket
"Blaaady lurrrvely that. The kind of leather jacket you have dreams about, you know waling onto the pyramid stage at Glastonbury wearing it, just before clipping a 7-iron into the crowd and everybody going crazy. Also, you wouldn't look too bad wearing it for a Sunday Roast up at the Golf Club either. Niiiiice."

The Westbury Monk from Churches:
The Brig loves a classic pair of Monks. And they have to be from Churches. I’m sorry, but nothing less will do. They may cost a pretty penny, well £400 to be honest. But I think they’re worth every pound. These are shoe that have been built to last, no pun intended. My current pair has been gracing meetings for ten years, and I haven’t even had to have them resoled yet.
The Brig would say don’t be penny wise, and pound-foolish. This is a pair of shoes that are a proper investment in looking good, and feeling good in the foot department.
The Westbury monk strap has a side buckle and a wide strap, leather sole, hand-stitched welt and Goodyear construction. Waxes are applied by hand to ‘create subtle nuances that enhance the original beauty of the shoe’s leather. The unique polished binder finish is applied to full grain leather, giving it a beautiful, deep shine.’ In other words, it’s lovely shiny leather time.
They’re not just an office or formal shoe. They look great with a nice pair of black moleskins, but possibly not with jeans.

Cashmere Kinloch Cap
Being a Brig I do like a good cap, and this one from Johnson’s of Elgin is my current favourite. The good people of Johnson’s have been making their wares since 1797; we think they’ve learned a thing or two in the past two hundred and twenty three years of trading.
Their classic Cashmere Kinloch cap will set you back £55 of your hard earned, but it will last you for years, if you don’t leave it in the clubhouse after some post round imbibing.
It comes in a range of colours – Cromarty, Fara, Alnes, Carnoustie, St Andrews, and Ballycastle – so there’s a bit of a golf theme lurking in there. It’s a cap for on the course, and off the course. A cap for all seasons – well, apart from mid summer I would suggest.
The company has traded from the same site on the banks of the River Lossie ever since it was founded in 1797. In all that time it has been owned and run by just two families, the Johnsons and the Harrisons. Proper old school, but with a touch of the moderns.
